Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Onyx iOS app (the "App"), made by Shivam Vohra ("I"). The short version: your habit data stays on your device, I run no servers that hold it, and I don't track you.

• No account. You don't sign up, log in, or give me an email to use Onyx.
• No tracking. No analytics SDKs, no advertising, no third-party trackers, no cross-app or cross-site tracking of any kind.
• No servers of mine. I operate no backend that receives or stores your habit data. I cannot see your habits.
• iCloud sync, on by default. Your data syncs to your own private iCloud account — under your control in iOS Settings, and never to me.

What Onyx stores

Onyx stores what you create in the App, in a local database on your iPhone: your habits (names, colors, reminders and related preferences), your completions, the second chances and planned breaks you record, your app settings, and an optional profile (display name and photo) if you choose to add one. I do not receive a copy of any of it.

Two related features also stay on-device: habit reminders are local notifications scheduled and delivered by iOS, and CSV export and import read and write files on your device — an export goes only where you send it.

iCloud sync

Onyx syncs through Apple's CloudKit so your habits stay consistent across your Apple devices. Sync is on by default. When it's active, the data above is stored in your own private iCloud account, governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

This is device-to-iCloud only — your data is never sent to me or to any third party. The App has no sync switch of its own; you control it in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Apps Using iCloud. Turning Onyx off there keeps your data on-device only.

Purchases

Onyx Premium is sold through Apple's App Store (StoreKit). Apple processes payment; I never receive or store your payment details or Apple ID. Apple gives me aggregate sales reporting that does not identify you.

Children

Onyx is a general-audience productivity app, is not directed at children under 13, and collects no personal information from anyone.

Deleting your data, and your rights

Because your data lives on your device — and, unless you turn sync off, in your own iCloud — retention is entirely in your hands. Deleting a habit removes it in the App. Deleting the App removes its local data from that device. To remove synced data, turn Onyx off under iCloud in Settings and delete its iCloud data from your Apple ID.

Laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct or delete personal data a company holds about you. I hold none, so there is nothing for me to retrieve or erase on your behalf — it is already in your hands.
